Deafies in Drag is a creative powerhouse that brings together Deaf culture, comedy, and fierce drag artistry. Created by Deaf performers Casavina and Selena Minogue, their shows and videos celebrate visibility, humor, and self-expression within the Deaf and LGBTQ communities.

Through sketches, live performances, and bold storytelling, they highlight the beauty of Deaf identity while delivering unforgettable looks and laughter. Their mission is to entertain, educate, and empower through the art of drag.

What your drag name means?

It's Spanish for "Winehouse," named after British singer Amy Winehouse, one of my drag inspirations.

What made you do drag?

I’ve always loved costumes, dolls, and storytelling. Drag gave me the perfect way to step into characters and bring stories to life through videos and performances.

Besides drag, what do you do?

I create and edit videos for organizations, support other creatives with digital media, and in my downtime, I enjoy spending time with my cat, watching films/series, exploring new places, and cooking delicious meals.

Interesting Fact About You?

I didn’t learn ASL until I got to Gallaudet University in 2010, having grown up using oral communication and SEE. I’m fluently trilingual in Spanish, English, and ASL.

Selena Minogue

What your drag name means?

My drag name comes from two of my favorite singers: Selena, after Mexican-American singer Selena Quintanilla, and Minogue, after Australian singer Kylie Minogue.

What made you do drag?

I was always a class clown who loved making people laugh. I enjoyed acting and discovered drag alongside Casavina, which became the perfect way to bring comedy and performance together.

Besides drag, what do you do?

I sew clothes and costumes, and I’m involved with interpreting communities. In my downtime, I love traveling, attending events, and celebrating life!

Interesting Fact About You?

I’m extremely extroverted, a huge foodie, and love raves. Playing video games and taking long walks while listening to music are my therapy.
